Wisla partners with British Cycling

Wisla is proud to support British Cycling by developing high-performance straps for their custom carbon shoes, to be used by the Olympic Cycling Team.

The team, who originally planned to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (which is now planned to go ahead in July 2021), required bespoke straps to fit perfectly with their shoes. This required a collaborative partnership between Wisla’s designers and British Cycling over a period of several months. Many different designs were tried and tested before the final product was approved. Wisla’s ongoing relationship with British Cycling will continue beyond the rearranged Olympics and the straps are also planned to be used by Paralympian cyclists.

Oliver Caddy, Project Engineer at British Cycling commented ‘’working with Eddie and the wider design and technical team at Wisla was a pleasure. Their knowledge and understanding of our specific requirements meant that the whole process of developing the right product was streamlined from start to finish.’’

It is a requirement of the governing body of international cycling (UCI) to make sure everything the British Cycling team uses at the Olympics is available for sale. Wisla now plans to commercialise these straps, for more information please enquire here.
